After graduating from UNI I went to Indiana and taught in a very poor school. Nothing like our Marshalltown schools. I went to graduate school and had my first child. I stayed home and raised 2 kids. Played a lot of tennis and had a catering business after we moved back to Marshalltown. I worked for Adasi (drug counseling) and the department of Corrections in Pretrial Release. That job required me to go to court most days. That is where I met Don Mason. Fortunately, he was a prosecutor, not a offender!
later we moved to West Des Moines and I worked at the Rape Crisis Center. First as a crisis counselor and then as the director of the Intra-Family Sexual Abuse Program (IFSAP). I did that for ten years.
After a short stint in Chicago we moved to West Virginia.
