2010....WOW..... that means we are all going to be 70 sometime this year.... can you believe it?? Hope you all have a healthly, happy NEW year and know that I am wishing you the best!

Right now I am in COLD Florida but I keep reminding myself that it isn't as chilly as the bitterness of Marshalltown. We will be seeing Lee Willim soon ... I hope I will recognize him as he has lost 50 punds. Good going Mr. Lee!!

My big day isn't until June but I have requested being in Vegas and enjoying the Donny Osmond show on the 15th... after being a fan of the Dancing with the Stars, I must see his trophy. I understand he has it with him at all times! HA!!! Let us all know how you will be celebrating this much dreaded big number.

Thanks to Bev for keeping us all in touch with one another.

I am in Chilly TEXAS also and have been since Nov. 5th. We had two very very cold days in Jan. and my friends and I harvested over 300 grapefruit from my tree. Many friends are enjoying them. November was beautiful, Dec. was rain and more rain, but the locals loved the rain for their crops.

Had a great brunch with 47 from Marshalltown in our park this AM and that was fun.

I keep very busy and want to in the park and outside the park.

I have kept up with the cold, cold weather in Iowa also and all over in Colorado and Minnesota, so guess I shouldn't complain with a chilly two days in South Texas.

I to feel the 70's coming up soon (Feb.3rd), but sure don't feel like I soon will be 70.

Have a great winter.

Hi class of '58

Well, we've been in sunny (and yes, sometimes cold) FL since the first week of Dec. We went to Greensboro, N.C. for a few days for Xmas to be with our daughter, Melinda and hubby and then back to Naples. We don't mind the cool weather as it makes our four mile walk 3x a week more comfortable.

In two days on Jan. 30th I turn 70. I don't feel that old. Yes, it sounds old; but I have to look in the mirror to remind myself that I can't do all I used to do.

Wally and I will leave FL a little early (middle of Feb.) this year so we can go to Australia and New Zealand with a group from Wally's college including his college roommate and wife. We will visit with our 8 mo. old granddaughter before going and leave our dog with her and her parents. Madeline Catherine Roe (West Des Moines, IA) has my fat cheeks (poor one); but she sure is cute. Wesley and Anika Junker (Fort Worth, TX) think she is special also and can hardly wait to play with her.

All of you with birthdays after me......have fun......I know I will. I've already celebrated twice.

I just made the leap into the new decade! (Don't feel it yet!!)

Hal and I also are out of that cold Iowa weather. We have been coming to Phoenix area for the last 5 years for the winter and this year we are the ones that got the really great weather...us and southern California. Except we did have those 3 days of rain and high winds a week ago that really took me by surprise.

Everyone have a happy 70th birthday...stay healthy! (I don't feel that old til I realize the age of our kids and our oldest grandchild just turned 22 and will be graduating from college!)

I made the big "70" and don't really know any difference. I am just happy to say I am here to see it.
I did have a great birthday. A friend had 14 gals over for a birthday brunch for my birthday which was very nice. Then in the afternoon a patio party to my honor and that was really great. That evening we had potluck at the hall and I was the only one with a birthday right on the same night, so a little fun was had there and then games after, so it was really a busy, fun day for hitting 70. I like rest of the ones turning 70 health is an important item and I am very healthy so am blessed with not even having to take one pill (yet anyway). Glad that I have good genes.

The weather in South Texas is very nice now, but we have had our share of RAIN. The locals really love all the rain but we winter texans would prefer sun all the time, but sure are getting it now and thankful for that. Good year to be out of IOWA>>>>>

Hope the rest that are turning 70 will have a great day.

I remember going to the box car across the street to where Taylors is now with my Grandmother every Saturday as I worked on Saturday at their place of business and we would go and have a Maid-rite and a piece of Cherry Pie. It was just as good then as they are now. It has been fun reading the responses on Facebook "Save the Maid-Rite" from people all over the USA and World. So Happy that our Senator Steve Soddars got the Bill Passed in the Senate and now going to the House as hoping the House will pass the Bill letting the TAYLORS MAID-RITE stay open. Watch the Local TR or www.desmoinesregister for the outcome.
